Whaling Days Run

Well let me see, how did we end up doing this?? Oh yeah, it was Jayce's idea. He had seen one of the flyers and wanted to enter. I hate running so I am not sure why or how I ended up in the race. Sydney somehow managed to escape it. She was supposed to be the photographer. Hmmm... I believe there were around 400 participants in the one mile. I know for you runners out there, that is something you can manage on a break in between chores, so don't laugh. Did I mention I HATE RUNNING! So I would have to say this was something out of the norm for me to enter. Final results were grouped by age brackets and gender. They gave ribbons for the top 5 in each group. Errol- 2nd, LaRee- 4th, Lindsay- 2nd and Jayce- 8th. Not to shab. I won't tell you the finish times since the kids came in before me. But I will say that Lindsay was only 28 seconds behind the overall top winner for the females. Maybe we will try this again next year and I will be draggin Sydney with me!

WILD WAVES!!

It was the perfect day for Wild Waves. It made it even better that my sister and her family were able to come up for the weekend and go with us. The kids had a blast spending time together and it didn't hurt that they were doing it at the waterpark!

End of School Year!!

Sorry, I am trying to play catch up! Time passes so quickly!!!

Sydney graduated from the 6th grade this year. She was one of a handful of kids that received the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence. She also receive the Eagle award. This award is for taking on leadership roles, being a self motivated learner, having a commitment to learning, putting others before themselves and having an attitude that serves as a model for others.

Sydney was the ASB Vice President this last year and Jayce decided to follow in her footsteps.
Here is a picture of the one of the posters that Lindsay helped him make for his campaign.

Baseball/Softball

I figured I better get these posted before the next round of sports start. All three of the kids had a great seasons. Both Sydney and Jayce's teams went to the championships and ended up finishing second place. Jayce even got a couple grand-slams and home-runs this season.

Softball wound

Last night at Sydney's pre-game warm ups, they were paired up to play catch.  Evidently one of the girls threw a pretty wild ball.  Sydney was just about to throw the ball to her partner when she got nailed in the forehead with a softball from one of the other pairs.  Don't let the name "soft"ball deceive you.  They are not soft in any shape or form.  The result of this mishap was a nice bump and the imprint of the stitching from the ball.  I didn't even know it happened until after the game was over and all she had to say about it was "and I didn't even cry".  What a sport!

Recital, Recitals

It has been a busy month.  May 9th Sydney and Jayce had their piano recital.  We also had lots of softball and baseball games.  Sydney has also been playing the piano in a beginners jazz band.  I will try and get one of their songs posted soon. We got to finish off the month with with Noah and Sydney's violin recital.
Sydney played Sonatina in A minor and Bella's Lullably.  Jayce played Hedwigs Theme and Scat Boogie.

Freshman Dance

Freshman Dance!!
Lindsay's freshman dance was tonight.  She looks so cute.  She had a great friend do her hair.  I can't believe that she is that old already!!
Just to add as a side note, this tiny little thing just broke the bench record in her weight class.
She bench 118 lbs!!! (that is actually more than she weights)
Sorry to have added so many pictures but I had fun with my little photo shoot.

Lindsay's Tennis

I am finally getting around to posting some of Lindsay's tennis photos.  She is playing for Olympic High School and having a lot of fun.  I had to add the one of her back so you could see what she put on the back of her sweatshirt.

After looking at the post I noticed that you can't read what it says.  It says "HOLCKSTER"

I am finally back!  I wish that I had time to update this and upload photos.  Then my family would be able to keep updated on everything that is going on with our family.  Maybe I will add a picture just for fun.  I should, at least, do wordless Wednesday.
